Spotify has announced a series of key promotions and new appointments to its global sales team headquartered in New York. Brian Benedik, Spotify’s Global Head of Sales, announced that Alex Underwood has been promoted to Global Head of Agencies & Accounts; and Les Hollander has been promoted to Global Head of Audio Monetization. Benedik also announced two key new hires for the US East Coast Sales Team—Lisa Tran, who joins Spotify as Regional Vice President, East Region US; and Jason Tosney, who will serve as Director of Sales, East Region US.
“These promotions and new hires bring a diverse set of skills to our internal sales team and external partners,” said Benedik. “Our ad-supported free tier has grown exponentially over the past few years, and we now have a world class leadership team in place to drive monetization growth around the world.”
The following promotions and new hires are effective immediately:
Alex Underwood, Global Head of Agencies & Accounts: Alex is leading Spotify’s recently formed Global Agency team, which will partner with media holding companies around content, data and music driven solutions. Alex previously served as Regional Vice President, East Region US for Spotify. Prior to Spotify, Alex was Head of Media Agency Strategy at Google where he was charged with developing and executing the go-to-market strategy for media agencies across North America.
Les Hollander, Global Head of Audio Monetization: Les is leading Spotify’s audio specific efforts across regions to engage brands in the audio format and provide innovation to the marketplace. Previously, Les was Senior Director of Audio Sales for Spotify US. Prior to joining Spotify, Les served as Vice President of Digital Sales at Gannett, where he was responsible for the development and execution of the company’s strategic digital sales plan. Les was also Vice President of Sales/Director, Eastern Region Radio Sales, at Pandora.com, and has held positions at CBS Radio and Clear Channel, among other national companies.
Lisa Tran, Regional Vice President, East Region US: Lisa brings 15 years of media and advertising experience to Spotify having worked in both ad tech and consumer brands. She recently joined from Rubicon Project, where she was Head of Buyer Cloud, leading East Coast sales to major advertising holding companies and agency trading desks. Prior to Rubicon, Lisa spent eight years at Undertone as Senior Sales Director overseeing a large team of directors and account executives responsible for selling cross-screen, video, mobile and high impact solutions to major brand marketers and agencies.
Jason Tosney, Director of Sales, East Region US: Jason is leading a team based in NYC working directly with brands and holding companies. He has previously held senior sales positions at TimeOut, AOL/Patch, Centro and Federated Media.
