Spotify and See It Be It: Empowering Female Leaders at Cannes Lions 2018

It’s estimated that women make up 46 percent of the advertising industry, but account for just 11 percent of creative directors. And it’s time to change that ratio. That’s why Spotify is proud to partner with Cannes Lions on its See It Be It initiative.

See It Be It was launched in 2014 to highlight the issue of gender imbalance at senior levels in the marketing industry — and push the industry into action. The career development initiative identifies 20 future female leaders from the creative world, then provides them with executive training, mentoring and exclusive networking opportunities to push their career forward. Applications for the program opened this week — click here to apply before the final deadline on March 16.

Building on last year’s theme of “Confidence,” the theme of this year’s See It Be It will be “Leadership.” Women who participate will be given tools to develop their leadership skills, ultimately driving their confidence and ambition as they look to create and innovate in the future. Spotify’s own Danielle Lee (VP, Global Head of Partner Solutions) and Jackie Jantos (VP, Brand and Creative) will be onsite as mentors at the festival to help guide the proceedings. They’ll also be heading up conversations throughout the year-long program of events.

Spotify’s VP, Global Head of Partner Solutions Danielle Lee speaks on the need for recruiting and retaining diverse talent on a panel at The Girls’ Lounge during CES 2018.

“The creative community is only as effective as the talent it employs. As the world becomes rapidly more diverse and multifaceted, it is imperative that creative talent reflects the world we live in,” Lee says. “We look forward to partnering with See It Be It to enable women of all backgrounds to achieve their maximum potential in creative marketing."

At Spotify, we know that diversity isn’t just a buzzword, it’s a business imperative. Check out Lee’s piece for Campaign about why it’s so important that the right people have a seat at the table.

Interested women can apply for See It Be It here before the final deadline on March 16. See It Be It is also accepting nominations for mentors who are able to donate time and expertise both onsite at Cannes Lions and at regional events. Contact for more information.
